루크 마틴(Luke Martin)의 'Ultimate Street Food Tour in Jeonju'에도 같은 한국집(Hankook Jib)이 나옵니다.

에런과 클레어(Aaron and Claire)의 'Korean Street Food at Jeonju Hanok Village'는 한옥마을 길거리 음식에 집중합니다.

Jeonju Food Guide: Bibimbap, Hanok Village Street Food, Nambu Night Market and Gunsan Tteokgalbi (From Travel Videos)

2026-10-12

A video-based guide to eating in Jeonju, a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, and the wider Jeollabuk-do region. It covers bibimbap, tteokgalbi and hanjeongsik, Hanok Village street snacks, the Nambu Market night market and Gyeonggijeon Shrine. It also looks at Gunsan tteokgalbi and a sundae gukbap spot in Jinan.

Jeonju, in Jeollabuk-do, is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy and the city most closely tied to bibimbap. Plenty of travel vloggers and Korean food shows have come here to eat, and this guide collects what they actually ate and where. It covers bibimbap, tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties), hanjeongsik (a multi-dish Korean set meal), Hanok Village street snacks and the Nambu Market night market. It also takes a short detour to Gunsan and Jinan.

Jeonju Bibimbap: Eating It Where It Started

Bibimbap is the starting point in most of the videos. In Original Bibimbap & Night Market in Jeonju, the creator eats bibimbap at Hanguk Jip on Eojin-gil. Luke Martin's Ultimate Street Food Tour in Jeonju goes to the same restaurant (spelled Hankook Jib). In his description he admits he came for the bibimbap, but the bulgogi "might be the real reason" to visit Jeonju. That makes a case for trying both.

In 24 Hours in Jeonju – Hanok Village & Best Bibimbap, the host eats authentic Jeonju bibimbap at a traditional restaurant. It comes packed with fresh vegetables, raw beef, rice and homemade sauces. The Korean web show Popular Restaurants (인기 맛집) takes a playful angle. Comedian Kwak Beom, a Jeonju native, visits with Wonee and Minami of the group Lescenne. They bring up the rumor that Jeonju locals don't actually eat Jeonju bibimbap. Then they pit a human-recommended restaurant against a machine-recommended one to find the city's top bibimbap.

Tteokgalbi and Hanjeongsik

Tteokgalbi

The Original Bibimbap & Night Market video stops at Gyodong Tteokgalbi in Pungnam-dong. Steph and Pete spent a month in Seoul, and in Jeonju Vlog – Gyeonggijeon Shrine & Tteokgalbi they come down to Jeonju for a couple of days. They visit the shrine and eat tteokgalbi.

Hanjeongsik

Jeonju is also known for hanjeongsik, a set meal where the dishes keep coming until the table is full. MBC every1's Welcome, First Time in Korea? sends four brothers from New Zealand to Jeonju (EP.266). They eat a full hanjeongsik spread and learn about Joseon history at Gyeonggijeon Shrine. Afterwards they have bingsu (shaved ice) and watch traditional performances such as pansori and tightrope walking.

Hanok Village Street Food and Nambu Night Market

Aaron and Claire's Korean Street Food at Jeonju Hanok Village focuses on snacks. Their description lists these items with the prices at the time of filming, which may have changed since:

  • Bibim bbang (bibim bread): 3,000 won
  • Bool ggo-cheng-i (spicy bacon roll with cheese): 6,000 won
  • Chicken skewer with cheese: 4,000 won
  • Chicken wing stuffed with fried rice: 4,000 won

In 24 Hours in Jeonju, the host stays overnight in a hanok, a traditional Korean house. He tries the Choco Pie from the well-known PNB bakery and some sizzling grilled cheese. The Original Bibimbap video also visits Da Urang Dumplings on Gyeonggijeon-gil and Oehalmeonisomssi Cafe. It ends the day at the night market at Nambu Market. Luke Martin's tour includes Nambu Market and a dumpling shop as well.

Gyeonggijeon Shrine: History Between Meals

Gyeonggijeon is a Joseon-era shrine inside the Hanok Village area. Both the New Zealand brothers and Steph and Pete visit it. Hanbok rental is part of the Hanok Village scene, and you'll see people strolling in traditional dress in several of the videos.

Beyond Jeonju: Gunsan Tteokgalbi and Jinan Sundae Gukbap

In one Korean mukbang (eating show) video, the creator orders 10 servings of a Gunsan tteokgalbi that people reportedly travel from all over the country to eat. Watch it if you want to compare Gunsan's version with Jeonju's. In Jinan, Sigol Sundae serves sundae gukbap, a Korean blood sausage soup with rice. It is open only about three hours a day, so you need to time your visit.

Planning Tips

  • Several spots share addresses around Gyeonggijeon Shrine, so you can walk between them and the shrine. These are Hanguk Jip (Eojin-gil), Da Urang Dumplings (Gyeonggijeon-gil) and the street food stop from Aaron and Claire's video (29 Eojin-gil).
  • Many of the videos follow the same pattern: Hanok Village and Gyeonggijeon by day, then Nambu Market's night market in the evening.
  • Bibimbap, tteokgalbi and hanjeongsik are all filling meals. Plan one or two of them per day and fill the gaps with street snacks.
  • Sigol Sundae in Jinan keeps very short hours, so check that it's open before you make the trip.
  • Prices quoted in the videos reflect the time of filming.
